Help Megan15 Year Old Megan Needs Your Help
15 year old Megan was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Disease. In the summer July of 2007, she had some x-rays done because she had not been feeling well. When the x-rays showed something in her chest, her mother Kelle had to act quickly and ordered a CT scan. Based on the CT scan results, a biopsy was ordered and the diagnosis was Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Disease. She is 15 years old and battling cancer.

She then began a painful and very exhausting three months of chemo. After chemo, the doctors found that all Megan’s nerves in her ankles and feet had been damaged from treatment. She is now disabled for life and has difficulty walking. Yet despite the aggressive Chemotherapy, her cancer is back. Her Mom Kelle has been told that her daughter now needs high doses of chemo and radiation along with stem cell rescue. Megan has only a 25% or less chance of coming through such aggressive chemotherapy. That is not a 25% chance of surviving cancer but surviving the chemo itself. Having recently just gone through chemo, Megan and her Mom do not feel she could survive this procedure again.

The tumors are in her lungs, and the Chemotherapy should begin immediately. Because of the urgency of the situation, Kelle and Megan decided to go to the North Central Mississippi Regional Cancer Center where Dr. Arnold Smith and his dedicated team employ immunotherapy, an innovative treatment that works to restore the immune system that age and cancer break down, helping the body fight back. Combined with radiation therapy to debulk cancer, molecular targeted therapies to arrest host defenses, genomic assays, and chemotherapy when necessary, immunotherapy helps patients live a higher-quality, longer life.

Please try to understand what Megan and Kelle are going through. Emotionally and financially they need help. Megan is currently undergoing Dr. Arnold Smith’s treatment that is not covered under their medical plan. Megan’s Mom, Kelle, is a single parent and is unable to work as Megan needs daily around the clock care. Kelle is enduring many financial problems including but not limited to, a possible foreclosure of their home and a daily struggle to get by. Megan has many needs that do not fall under the title of "medical". The additional cost of a "healthy" diet and the dietary supplements that may help Megan’s body battle her disease, add to the financial strain.

It is hard to ask for donations, but it is necessary to help Megan and Kelle to survive. If anyone can help by sending donations, it would be deeply appreciated. Please help this young girl fight for her life.
When the Doctor told me the cancer had come back, I asked him, “How long am I going to live?” He gave me 3 months. Being 15 and hearing that after going through treatment once already could definitely bring you down. But I remained strong. I had to for my mom. She needs me. She has no one else. I’m her only support. And she’s my only support.

So mom went on the Internet and found this boy named Abraham and he was told he only had 3 months to live just like me. He refused chemo too. He had come to this place in Mississippi that I’m at right now and the doctor cured him. The doc here says he’s no miracle worker and that my cancer is really bad but he’s going to try and save my life. He has me on lots of things right now and none of them are painful. The people here are nice. The doctor really does care. Its great. I actually have some hope now of living.
